School Hall Sound Systems — Repair, Upgrade & Installation

When the hall PA is muffled, crackling, or simply dead — we replace it with a system teachers can run, installed entirely within the school holidays.

Energycon Engineering repairs, upgrades and installs sound systems for school halls, indoor sports halls and assembly venues across Singapore. In 2026 alone we completed three school projects — Unity Primary School, Naval Base Secondary School and the Singapore Korean International School — every one of them delivered without disrupting a single school day.

School halls are acoustically hostile: hard floors, hard walls, high ceilings, and a room that must serve morning assembly, PE lessons, exams and concerts. The systems we replace usually fail the same two tests — announcements are muffled at the back of the hall, and nobody on staff is quite sure how to operate the rack. We design for both problems at once.

How we design for schools

Teachers are the operators. Every school system we hand over is deliberately plug-and-play: switch on, pick up the microphone, be heard. At Unity Primary and Naval Base Secondary that meant a compact analogue mixer and a wireless microphone system with nothing to configure — no menus, no presets, no AV technician on standby.

Speakers are aimed at students, not at walls. In a reflective hall, pointing more power into the room just makes the echo louder. We wall-mount passive loudspeakers aimed at the seating and assembly areas, and in larger halls we add fill speakers — as at SKIS, where Yamaha CZR15 mains are paired with CHR15 fills — so the back rows hear the same thing as the front.

The school calendar is a design constraint. Removal, installation, commissioning and tuning are scheduled inside the term break. The SKIS assembly hall overhaul went from old system to tuned handover entirely within the holidays.

What a school sound system costs

These are the same figures our online estimator uses. Prices exclude GST.

ScopeTypical systemInstalled price
Medium schoolClassroom + hall PA with centralized control$6,000 – $10,000
Large schoolCampus-wide PA + bell system$12,000 – $20,000
Large school, high-ceiling hallAssembly hall PA + campus system$15,000 – $25,000

A single-hall upgrade — replacing the speakers, amplifier and mixer in one sports hall or assembly hall, as we did at Unity Primary — comes in below these campus-wide figures. Tell us the venue and we will give you a firm number after a site assessment.

Common questions from schools

The hall PA still works, but speech is muffled. Repair or replace?

We assess before we quote. Sometimes the fault is a failed amplifier channel or corroded cabling and a repair is honest value. But when the speakers themselves are consumer-grade or decades old — which is what we usually find behind "muffled" — a targeted replacement of speakers and amplifier costs less than repeated call-outs and fixes the intelligibility problem for good.

Can the work happen during term time?

Noisy work is scheduled for the term break; that is how all three of our 2026 school projects ran. Where a fault needs attention mid-term, diagnostic and repair visits are scheduled around the timetable.

Will teachers need training?

A handover briefing, yes — a manual, no. The systems are designed so that switching on and speaking is the entire workflow. Wireless microphones are charged, matched and labelled before we leave.
