Price Guide

How Much Does a Restaurant Sound System Cost in Singapore?

Real installed prices from our own F&B projects — what each budget gets you, what drives the number up, and what a complete quote must include.

A restaurant sound system in Singapore typically costs between $2,000 and $15,000 installed, depending on floor area, ceiling type, and how many independently controlled audio zones you need. A small cafe can get a properly installed background-music system from about $1,500. Most of the restaurant projects we quote land between $5,000 and $12,000. Prices below exclude GST.

These are the same figures our online estimator uses, and they come from installed projects — not industry averages copied from overseas price lists.

What actually drives the price up

Zones are the biggest single jump. The moment the bar needs different music or volume from the dining room, the system needs a matrix processor and additional amplifier channels. Going from one zone to three typically adds a few thousand dollars — it changes the architecture, not just the speaker count.

Ceiling height and type come next. A false ceiling in a standard-height unit is the cheapest install. Exposed industrial-style ceilings need pendant speakers to bring sound down to diners instead of letting it bounce around the ceiling void — that is why the high-ceiling band starts at $10,000.

Paging and announcements (for seating calls or staff paging) add a microphone input, zone override logic, and usually a DSP. Wireless microphones for events add RF planning — in a busy Singapore mall the RF environment is congested enough that we run a spectrum survey before specifying anything. Alfresco areas need weather-rated speakers. And in some loud, hard-surfaced rooms the honest answer is acoustic treatment, not more speakers — more speakers in a reverberant room just make the echo louder.

What every quote from us includes

Site assessment, system design matched to your floor plan, installation by our own team, DSP configuration, and post-installation tuning to the room. Tuning is not an add-on: an untuned system is an unfinished system. If a quote you are comparing does not mention calibration or tuning, the number is smaller because the job is.

The hardware we actually deploy

For most Singapore F&B installs we use Bose Professional DesignMax ceiling speakers, Yamaha MA-series amplifiers for single-zone rooms, and Yamaha MTX matrix processors where multiple zones are involved, with Bluesound Professional network streamers as the music source. We are authorized dealers for all three brands, which matters for warranty support. The engineering reasoning behind these choices is in our commercial audio installation guide.

Common questions

Can we reuse our existing speakers?

Sometimes. If they are commercial-rated and in usable positions, we will keep them and say so in the quote. What we most often find — consumer hi-fi speakers daisy-chained off a home amplifier — usually cannot run 12-hour days reliably and cannot be zoned, so reuse rarely survives the site assessment.

How long does installation take?

A single-zone cafe system is typically installed and tuned within a day. Multi-zone restaurant systems take two to four days. We schedule around your operating hours, including overnight work where the landlord requires it.

Does the price include music licensing?

No. Public-performance licensing in Singapore (COMPASS) is separate and is the venue's responsibility. We advise on streaming hardware that works with licensed commercial music services.

Why is another installer's quote half the price?

Check what is missing: commercial-rated speakers, a DSP, calibration after installation, and warranty-backed hardware are the usual gaps. A cheap system that is loud but unintelligible gets replaced within two years — we know because replacing them is a steady part of our work.
